Benefits of Membership
There are many benefits to joining your Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce. A voting membership gives you an active voice. Many benefits are obvious, some are not readily apparent.
Business Referrals
The Chamber receives over 200 calls monthly asking questions about businesses in the Tecumseh area. It is our policy to refer members of the Chamber to fit the needs of the caller. Your investment includes increased business through the referral service.
Networking
There are monthly luncheons, business after hours, legislative breakfast, evening receptions, ribbon cuttings, annual auction, and the annual meeting and awards banquet. These give you opportunities to see what other successful businesses are doing and share ideas.
Gift Certificates
The Tecumseh Chamber issues $2,500.00 in Chamber Gift Certificates through the year that are redeemable only at a Chamber member's place of business. Purchases have included eye exams and glasses, lumber, pizza, jewelry, heat pumps, gasoline, feed, groceries, anything you can think of! Members could recoup the amount of their dues just from Gift Certificates!
Advertisement
The Chamber spent over $3,000.00 on joint or event advertising in the past year. This includes promotions in the spring for Eggstravaganza, Alumni Weekend, Frontier Days, Trick or Treat Tecumseh, Weekly Chamber Member Spotlight, and our major Christmas Shopping in Tecumseh ad campaign.
Property Referrals
The Chamber office can refer you to vacant or available properties in Tecumseh. Some of our referrals have resulted in placing Tecumseh Family HealthCare, Custom Soda Blasters, Taco Mayo, and Dollar General Store. There are more in the works!
Communication
Chamber Chimes is our newsletter highlighting Chamber and community happenings. A Current Events Calendar is maintained that lets you plan special promotions around Chamber sponsored events that bring large numbers of customers into town.
Data Center
The Chamber office is a storehouse for economic and community information. We have city, county, and state maps, Tecumseh School brochures and schedules, tourism guides, three different phone books, restaurant directories, Tecumseh business lists, and a comprehensive community profile showing the latest census counts, city services, marketing trends, area resources, and major employers and manufacturers.
Relocation Packets
The Chamber office has compiled a relocation packet for new residents and those considering relocation to Tecumseh. As a member you are invited to include your brochure or coupons, call the chamber office for details.
Brochure Display
Members are encouraged to display brochures describing their goods and services in the lobby outside the Chamber office as a resource for newcomers and visitors.
Internet
Tecumseh is featured on two web pages, www.tecumsehok.com and our new website www.tecumsehchamber.com The entire world can directly access information about your town, events, and local businesses. Your business is listed in the membership directory according to classification.
School Support
The Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce develops programs to encourage and support pride in our youth, and school system. Two Seniors of the Month speak at each monthly luncheon, the THS FFA program is presented during February's luncheon, and the Teacher Recognition Program is presented during March's luncheon. Two $300.00 scholarships are presented to THS seniors each year. The "Little Tecumseh School House" program allows children with all "A's" or "A's and B's" to put a copy of their report cards in the wooden school house to be eligible for cash drawings of $25 or $20 each 9 week period and a $500 savings bond at the end of the school year.
Community Enhancement
The Chamber sponsors the Anna Marie Brown and Wendell Hey Scholarships, THS Senior of the Month Awards, Teacher Recognition Awards, Community Blood Drive, Christmas Parade, Halloween Trick-or-Treating, and A Visit From Santa. Billboards bragging about Tecumseh's own Lt. Gov. Mary Copeland Fallin, Frontier Days and the business district were purchased. We host a number of 'Town Hall Meetings' with congressmen, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and host or participate in candidate forums for local, statewide and national elections.
Travel and Tourism
We are members of the Frontier Country Marketing Association. We are featured in their adventure guide and highlight area events. Planning a trip? Our office can put you in touch with Tourism Bureaus all over the world.
Legislative Liaison
The Chamber hosts a series of Legislative Lunches or Breakfasts on Fridays during the session at the Capitol. Bring your concerns directly to your elected officials on a face-to-face level. The Chamber brought the Governor and Cabinet, and the House of Representatives' Special Committee on Small Business to Tecumseh.
